New York-based tech company Yext will open DC-area office, add 500 jobs

On the heels of Amazon announcing its headquarters in Northern Virginia, another tech company is making plans to grow into the area.

New York City-based Yext, a tech company that provides cloud-based brand management services, is expanding to Rosslyn, Va., with a new office and plans to hire 500 people over five years, the company said in a press release.

“Yext is experiencing rapid growth as we create the groundbreaking technology businesses need to provide perfect answers in the services consumers use to find them. Growing our presence in the D.C. area is a critical step in continuing that momentum,” Howard Lerman, Yext Founder and CEO said in a statement. “We plan to create five hundred jobs in Greater D.C. in the coming years for talented, creative people who want to build a new technology category, so we are establishing a brand new, state-of-the-art space to fuel our growth today and well into the future.”

Founded in 2006, the company has offices in New York City, Berlin, Chicago, Dallas, Geneva, London, Paris, San Francisco, Shanghai, Tokyo, and now Virginia. Lerman is no stranger to the area. He is a Virginia native and a graduate of the Commonwealth’s  Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. Eighteen other Yext employees are also from Virginia, including the company’s CTO Tom Dixon, CIO Sean MacIsaac, and Head of Research and Development Kevin Caffrey, the company said.

Yext will be moving into 1101 Wilson Boulevard with a 42, 500 sq. foot office space, occupying the top three floors of the building and the roof terrace. The company’s large logo will live atop the Wilson Boulevard building that can be seen across the Potomac River. The building is already equipped with a gym, bike storage, a lounge, onsite market, cafe and Yext employees will enjoy free meals, a fully stocked kitchen and an open floor plan.

“Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia are emerging as one of the country’s major hubs for tech talent, which was a key factor in our decision to expand in the area. Our new office will be a key foothold as we continue our global growth,” Lerman said in a statement.
