After more than three years as a digital comic, Moon Girl is now in graphic novel form.
From South Philly’s Tony Trov and Johnny Zito, the serial comic that follows its namesake heroine first launched as a digital comic on Comixology in January 2010. Canadian publisher Red 5 eventually picked it up because it was doing so well, Trov said, and asked the pair to do a five-part series for them.

Trov and Zito are no stranger to digital comics: before Moon Girl, they published their comic Black Cherry Bombshells online. The digital releases helped build a fanbase for Moon Girl, Trov said, adding that many people who bought the digital comic also bought the graphic novel. Trov and Zito plan to release Moon Girl in other mediums, he said.
