Crowdfunding of the Week is a regular series highlighting the technology, creative and innovation crowdfunding campaigns in Baltimore that might be worth your support. This week’s project comes from Kickstarter. See other Crowdfundings of the Week here.
Some people make a career out of playing video games, pocketing a handsome amount of cash in the process.
Bel Air-based mobile app and gaming company 24KT Studios is looking to make a documentary about so-called pro gamers, and are now raising $5,000 on Kickstarter to pay for the production and travel costs.

As cofounder of 24KT Studios Marc Morrison writes on the Kickstarter page, “Paid to Play” is meant to “change [the] perception of professional gaming,” which Morrison thinks is largely centered on viewing pro gaming as an unserious fad.
At the least, the intensity of the accompanying Kickstarter campaign video makes the short trailer a good watch. (Cue the jokes about Michael Bay films.)
