MAVA announces 10 growth-stage companies set to present at SURGE 2019

The new conference from the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association set for Oct. 2 named these companies to present because of their proven customer traction and growth trajectory.

The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) announced the 10 growth-stage companies set to present at its new conference, SURGE 2019.

This group of companies in the “Momentum” category were picked based on having a proven customer traction, $2 million to $25 million in annual recurring revenue and a strong growth trajectory.

“We are pleased to present this lineup of 10 Momentum companies from across sectors and growth,” said Julia Spicer, executive director of MAVA, in a statement. “Their participation in Surge reinforces the needs of growing companies and desire to interact with the broader business community of industry partners, technologists, peer company operators and investment capital that can contribute to their future planning.”

These 10 companies will get five minutes on stage to present their ventures at SURGE later this week:

  • Bricata, Columbia, Maryland
  • Catch Co., Chicago
  • ChurnZero, Arlington, Virginia
  • Homesnap, Bethesda, Maryland
  • HUNGRY, Arlington, Virginia
  • Native Data, New York, New York
  • NormShield, Vienna, Virginia
  • ScientiaMobile, Reston, Virginia
  • Whitebox Technologies, Baltimore, Maryland
  • Viihealth, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

The D.C.-based association announced in May that it would be expanding on its TechBUZZ event with the new conference, where up to 50 tech startups will be counseled as they look to scale their companies. This announcement of the Momentum companies comes a few weeks after MAVA announced the first round of 27 early-stage companies set to be showcased at its new conference.

The SURGE program spans a full year, with an in-person conference held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. Throughout SURGE, selected companies will get one-on-one meetings with investors, engage in closed-door roundtable discussions and gain access to an exclusive digital platform that MAVA is releasing later this year.

The public, tech advisors, investors and startup companies are invited to attend the conference.
