The Maryland Tech Council announced Wednesday that Marty Rosendale is stepping into the role of CEO.
Rosendale has led multiple businesses in the life sciences industry. He was an advisor to the board of the Tech Council of Maryland as it completed the 2017 merger between that organization and the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, which created the 450-member Maryland Tech Council.
The appointment, effective immediately, fills the top day-to-day leadership role at the trade group following last month’s departure of former CEO Tami Howie, who has since joined the law firm DLA Piper as a partner in D.C. Howie became CEO following the merger. Upon announcing Howie’s departure, MTC indicated it would “take a comprehensive look at the operational structure and the most appropriate path forward.”
Rosendale most recently worked with the Newport Board Group, a professional services firm which helps company leaders. Prior to that, he had executive roles in biotech and medical device companies.
“He knows the organization intimately, understands the business sectors of our membership as well as the constituents’ focus, has a visionary mindset, and brings extensive C-level experience,” Rene B. LaVigne, MTC Chairman and President, said in a statement.
The Maryland Tech Council seeks to serve as an umbrella group representing tech and life sciences companies in the state, including advocating during the annual legislative session in Annapolis.
News of the appointment comes on the eve of the Bio+Tech18 Conference tomorrow in Baltimore.
