A Frederick-based company you probably knew as Luminal has a new name.
The company is now called Fugue, reflecting the name of its cloud operating system, according to a release. The software is designed for businesses to maximize their use of the cloud on an infrastructural level.
The company announced $20 million in new funding, too. The Series C round was led by NEA, the venture capital giant with an office in Timonium. In a statement, NEA General Partner Henry Weller said Fugue is the “missing piece that will redefine the value proposition for businesses and spur the next wave of cloud adoption.”
Core Capital, which was a previous investor, also participated in the latest round. In all, Fugue has now raised $34 million.
In addition to its Frederick headquarters, the three-year-old startup also has offices in D.C., San Francisco and New York.
Among that money is $600,000 the company received from the InvestMaryland fund in 2014. That funding prompted a move to Frederick from West Virginia.
