Love Creek’s waters need a little love

Scientists say septic tanks are the probable pollution culprit for the Rehoboth waterway.

If you’ve got a great idea about reducing water pollution, get in touch with the Delaware Center for Inland Bays.
The Center just released the first of its “Your Creek” reports and focused on Love Creek near Rehoboth, according to a Delaware Public Media story.
Love Creek didn’t ace the report.
Scientists say close-by septic systems might be the cause of high concentrations of bacteria and nitrogen in the creek.
It’s a growing problem — the creek has already been deemed unsuitable for swimming and fishing — as the pollutants are destroying forest buffers that protect the creek’s vegetation.
The Center will release its next report in the spring about Derickson Creek, the story said.
