Sports are an entry point into lots of conversations these days. Next week, it’s a tie-in for a discussion on data – specifically, aggregating data to make decisions in real time.
That’s the topic of the latest edition of the Waterfront Tech Series. The breakfast panel discussion, titled “Game Changer,” is scheduled for Jan. 31 at Columbus Center in Inner Harbor.
Speakers include:
- Cody Williams, Manager of Business Intelligence & Digital Sponsorships for the Baltimore Ravens.
- Matt Slatus, General Manager of the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
- Dr. Miles J. Varn, Chief Medical Officer of PinnacleCare.
- John Coulson, Managing Partner at Pressbox.
According to the event description, it won’t be a discussion on Xs and Os. The panel is set to explore how data has changed sports. It influences “how athletes train, eat, and sleep, as well as how the farm team in baseball makes decisions today and how teams decide if they should train on any given day,” the event description states.
Event producer Laura Gaworecki of MOXIE Promotion has said the aim of the series is to highlight how tech can be used in all businesses. For this event, that common thread will be focused systems working together and creating actionable data.
