It’s August. It’s hot. Let’s make puns about STEAM.
That’s the newish acronym that adds “Arts” to the STEM fields — science, technology, engineering and math.
The idea: When art informs STEM and STEM informs art, interesting things can happen.
For the first edition of our newly revamped Technical.ly Podcast, cofounder Christopher Wink checks in with Technical.ly reporters Juliana Reyes (Philly) and Brady Dale (Brooklyn) to talk about the latest mashups of tech, art and design. (That’s everything from wacky wearables to making music with fruit.)
We then head to Cincinnati for a conversation about place in an Internet-connected world. Zan McQuade is a writer for The Daily Dot and the editor of the Cincinnati Anthology who caught our eye with her recent Medium post, Why Other Cities Matter.
Then it’s back east for a conversation with Keith Lea, cofounder and CEO of Wham City Lights. The crowdsourced light-show startup was cofounded by Baltimore EDM star Dan Deacon. Lea, a former Googler who says business and arts really aren’t that different, tells us about what’s next for Wham City, including, yes, an audio ray gun.
And, most importantly, let us know what you think: What’s great? What’s boring? What would you like to hear on future episodes of the new and improved Technical.ly Podcast?
