You’re at the library. Here, you can check out a book, find a cool historical documentary, go online and … incorporate a company?
Delaware, widely considered a tax shelter for businesses, is known for what it does best: incorporation services. What if incorporating a company in the First State became as easy as walking into a library and talking to a librarian? Well, as of Oct. 17, it will be. It doesn’t get more accessible than this.
Global Delaware, the State’s marketing arm, has collaborated with the State’s Division of Corporations to launch this initiative with the Delaware Division of Libraries. Librarians will be trained by agents and will be available on site to answer questions and guide entrepreneurs through the process on an online portal.
Andrea Tinianow of Global Delaware and Chief Deputy Secretary of State Rick Geisenberger saw a need to make the incorporation process more accessible due to the number of individuals that were visiting the Global Delaware office for incorporation assistance, said Emma Paulter, director of marketing at Global Delaware.
But with librarians being a part of the process, who’s footing the training bill? If agents are interested in getting more customers, they will have to donate their time to train librarians, Paulter said.
Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to choose their own agent through the incorporation portal. The first two Delaware-licensed registered agents to rise to this occasion are CT Corporation and IncNow, both of which will be present at the launch event on Oct. 17 at 10a.m. at the Inspiration Space located within the Wilmington Free Library.
If you’re interested in attending, get there early. The first 20 entrepreneurs to arrive will receive free LLC formation.
