Marketing agency idfive is the first company to sign a lease at a MICA building where the arts college is seeking to bring creative businesses onto its campus.
In June, idfive will move into 9,500 sq. ft. on the third floor of the 50,000 sq. ft. building at 81 Mosher St. in Bolton Hill, according to an announcement. The agency’s current Baltimore offices are in Woodberry.
After bringing on six new employees earlier this year, the firm is looking to continue hiring with the new space to add to a new of more than 40 in Baltimore and Medellin, Colombia. Additionally, it’s looking to add more collaborative workspaces. A rendering indicates idfive will also get some prime marketing space of its own in the form of signage on the top of the building that is visible from I-83.
MICA bought the former factory building, which formerly housed engineering firm RK&K, last year as part of an expansion. In leasing the space, the arts college is looking to attract creative businesses who are a good fit with the college.
“Our creative department is not only bolstered by MICA graduates, there are also several idfive team members who teach at MICA,” idfive Creative Director Matt McDermott said in a statement. “It’s a bit of a homecoming for us. I expect our new office will provide even more opportunities to work with alums and make an impact at the front of the classroom.”
The building also has creative spaces for MICA students, and the arts college is looking to add more business tenants.
“The 117-year old building will provide a creative and unique environment for companies. Our vision for 81 Mosher is to attract reputable and creatives like those at idfive,” MICA President Samuel Hoi said in a statement.
Bronwyn E. LeGette and Matthew Seward from Cushman & Wakefield represented idfive in the deal.
