WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?
Hoopla Software, the San Jose, Calif.-based company that has its tech team in West Chester, Pa., raised $8 million, according to a release.
The round was led by Trinity Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based VC that has also invested in Center City’s RJMetrics, with participation from Wayne, Pa.-based Safeguard Scientifics, Oakland, Calif.-based Illuminate Ventures and other private investors. Safeguard Scientifics led Hoopla’s Series A in 2012.
Hoopla has 28 employees, nine of whom are based in West Chester, according to a spokeswoman.

Autism Expressed, the South Philly startup focused on teaching digital literacy to autistic students, was featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Scholly, the University City-based mobile app that helps students find scholarships, continues to make the rounds with national news. This time, Drexel undergrad founder Chris Gray was featured in Forbes.
LifeVest Health, the Center City company focused on workplace wellness incentives, was featured in a WHYY story about how workplace wellness is changing. The startup also got a shout from Senator Cory Booker on his communication channel of choice: Twitter.
