The HI – HERImpact Entrepreneurship Summit takes place on June 27 at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.

HERImpact DC is hosting its second HI – HERImpact Entrepreneurship Summit this week at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.

The free event is open to all women social entrepreneurs to help them learn how to grow their enterprises and increase both impact and long-term sustainability, a press release states. Registration is required for the free summit, which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 27.

The summit will kick off the three-month HI – HERImpact DC program, which is aimed at providing women social entrepreneurs with mentorship, workshops, financial assistance and coaching. This summit is another collaboration between Ford’s philanthropic arm, the Ford Motor Company Fund (Ford Fund), and 1863 Ventures, the pair who launched HERImpact DC. The joint initiative launched in November 2018, with the first entrepreneurship summit and the announcement of the initial group of finalists for the HERImpact DC Social Enterprise Pitch Competition that took place on March 16.

At the pair’s first pitch competition, 14 women social entrepreneurs competed and Danya Sherman of KnoNap took first place and received $25,000. Arion Long of Femly took second place and received $20,000 while Fonta Gilliam of Invest Sou Sou took third place and received $5,000.

Some of the upcoming summit’s speakers include Amelia Friedman, Hatch Apps board member, Kristina Francis from BEACON, Ryan Ross from Halcyon, Julia Westfall from HeraHub and more.

The summit will conclude with the opening of applications for a pitch competition that is slated to take place during the 2019 Startup Week DC in September. On June 27, entrepreneurs can apply to compete for $50,000 in prizes and investments.

Outside of this area, The Ford Fund has plans to launch this program in Miami by year-end.
