This suburban coworking spot just opened a second location in Wayne

One year after opening a coworking space in Delaware County’s Media, Pa., the team behind HeadRoom has opened a second outpost. This one’s in Wayne.
Managing partners Dan Lievens and John Tooher told us about their plans to open a second location earlier this year, echoing local coworking spaces like Benjamin’s Desk that aspire to have multiple locations throughout the city. More than 50 small businesses call HeadRoom’s Media location home, according to a press release, and all of those members will have access to the Wayne location, at 230 Sugartown Rd.
“As a small business pursuing clients along the Main Line, it is great to be able to say ‘I can meet you at my Wayne office,’ rather than depending on an invitation from the client, asking them to travel to Media or using a coffee house!” HeadRoom spokeswoman (and member) Cindi Sutera wrote in an email.
The 3,000-square-foot Wayne space itself looks like HeadRoom’s Media location — a bit more corporate-feeling than the coworking spaces you’ll find in the city, with its private offices and carpeting, though the Wayne location does have more startupy glass and a wide-open kitchen space. The team previously told us that they’re not competing with city coworking spaces, instead, they’re up against shared office spaces like Regus and American Executive Centers.
HeadRoom’s members include web development shops, law firms and a networking company called PowerMatch.
HeadRoom lets members rent by the hour (roughly $40/hour depending on how big of a room you want) or by the month ($350/month for 50 hours), which, for a very rough comparison, is just a bit more expensive than a similar package at Benjamin’s Desk and significantly cheaper than renting a one-person private office at upscale coworking option Industrious in Center City.
