Protenus, a medtech startup based in the Broom Factory in Canton, raised $100,000 in equity and debt, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The DreamIt Health graduate is developing a system to protect electronic medical records.
Who’s making moves?
OrderUp hired Eric Meyer, the Canton resident best known for the short-lived street parking marketplace Haystack, according to a press release. Meyer will serve as director of market launches for the Canton company, which is planning dozens of launches in 2015.
Investment banker R. Michael Gill will lead the Department of Business and Economic Development under Gov.-elect Larry Hogan, who takes office next week.

Uber cut fares for its bargain-level UberX offering in 48 American cities, including Baltimore, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. Annapolis and Washington were not included in the price cuts. Along with the price cuts, Uber guaranteed drivers that they would earn the same amount of money.
South Dakota tapped Annapolis-based TeleCommunication Services to operate its 911 services under a $16.4 million contract, The Daily Record reports.
