D.C. and St. Paul, Minn.-based GovDelivery announced on Tuesday that it is merging with Denver, Colo.-based Granicus — a cloud services company for government. Both companies were recently acquired by Vista Equity Partners.
The merger, effective immediately according to a press release, will make the GovDelivery/Granicus combo “the largest provider of cloud solutions to government in North America and the United Kingdom.” The duo will work to integrate products and invest in new solutions for their combined (over) 3,000 public sector customers.
“Governments are confronting a rapidly changing world with increasing expectations from citizens,” GovDelivery CEO Scott Burns said in a statement. “We have long admired Granicus as a leader in serving government and know that combining these two companies will create a powerful partner in helping connect government and citizens in meaningful ways.”
Vista Equity Partners, having recently acquired both Granicus and GovDelivery, is the majority backer to the merger. “The combined company will be able to better serve all levels of city, state, federal, school, and special district customers in the U.S. and throughout Europe,” Vista Equity Partners principal Patrick Severson said in a statement.
The combined companies, boasting 375 employees, will maintain offices in D.C. as well as St. Paul, Denver and Crawley in the U.K. The companies will operate independently for the remainder of 2016 as merger planning takes place.
