GoodSeeker, Inc. wants you to tell the good stories that happen at work, and the McLean, Va.–based company has some good news of its own. It just closed on a $1.3 million seed investment round.

The company’s platform captures, shares and promotes positive workplace stories and stakeholder testimonials with a simple “story generator” that allows the stories to be shared internally, on social media and the GoodSeeker company page.

“Invest in employees’ growth and well-being by giving them a way to see the positive impact they make,” the GoodSeeker site says.

According to Indeed, 83 percent of job seekers look at employee testimonials, employer reviews and inside stories to understand a company.

The funding was led by Michael Ortner, the founder of Arlington-based Capterra, which offers reviews of software for comparison of products across more than 500 categories. Ortner left the CEO role at Capterra in July.

“GoodSeeker is executing on a major opportunity to help companies identify and engage employees as advocates, and to paint a more balanced picture,” Ortner said in a statement. “Advocacy is a powerful marketing tool, especially when employees feel engaged and have something meaningful to share.”

Erik Ayers, the CEO and cofounder of GoodSeeker, praised Ortner as a pioneer with B2B Internet companies and the power of user generated reviews and ratings.

“His insights, entrepreneurial experience and passion for workplace culture are exactly what GoodSeeker needs in an investor and advisor,” Ayers said in a statement.
