General Assembly has expanded its D.C. campus.
The company, which runs courses in programming, data science and user experience design, has nearly taken over 1776’s 8th floor.
“It’s basically doubling the footprint,” said regional director Paul Gleger.
General Assembly has expanded from three to six full-time classrooms spread over 8,000 square feet, he said. The company rents from 1776, and its students also share the incubator’s open space on the floor.
“We were also kind of bursting at the seams,” Gleger added. The company had to organize courses in temporary classrooms and in the lobby conference room of the building at 1133 15th St. NW, which hosts 1776 on two floors.
General Assembly opened its D.C. campus in 2013. “There’s still so much room to grow,” said Gleger. “D.C. has been one of the fastest growing markets for us.”
