GDIT has been awarded a global supply chain contract worth $2B

Falls Church, Va.-based General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) announced that it has been awarded a $2 billion global supply chain contract. The IT unit of the large defense contractor will use the contract to continue supporting the U.S. State Department’s global security, engineering and supply chain mission.

The single-award contract comes from the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the security and law enforcement arm of the Department, and will last for a five-year term. GDIT was originally awarded the supply chain management contract in June 2012, so this new award will be an extension of that.

“GDIT delivers millions of security-related items to embassies and high-threat posts worldwide,” Paul Nedzbala, GDIT senior VP and head of federal civilian division, said in a statement. “We remain committed to this important work for the State Department and its employees across the globe.”

With the new contract, the press release states that GDIT will provide the Department with an integrated turnkey solution comprised of technical security systems, engineering and solution development, hybrid supply chain and distribution management. GDIT will also provide the Department with a global logistics and transportation network.

This award announcement comes after GDIT announced in May that it secured funding to provide AI tech to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funding contract is estimated at $49 million that will be dispersed over a five-year period to multiple companies.
