Move over, #UberPUPPIES.
The Fun Dept. and Faithful Friends Animal Society have decided to partner up and deliver puppies (and dogs and kittens) to the workplace for hourly segments.
They tested out the idea Friday morning with Bella, a year-old Chihuahua mix who donned a tie-dye “Adopt Me” kerchief, at The Fun Dept.’s workspace at 1313 Innovation.
Bella was a hit.
For half an hour, the folks at 1313 forgot the stresses of work and tossed a tennis ball with the puppy and scratched her ears.
Megan Anthony, community manager of 1313 Innovation (and Technical.ly Delaware contributor), didn’t even have words to describe how much Bella brightened the office. “Excited head-nod and clap!” she joked.
Because of Bella’s success, Nat Measley, the CEO and Master of Fun of The Fun Dept., said he plans to put Puppy Pop-Ins on his menu of selections that offices can order to ease stress, improve employee engagement and strengthen team-building.
Faithful Friends Animal, located in Wilmington, will supply the furry friends — who will either be up for adoption or trained therapy animals — while the Fun Dept. will be on hand to manage appearances. Measley said the plan is to bill hourly for puppy time and give a portion of the profits to Faithful Friends.
Brittany Anthony, the development and public relations manager at Faithful Friends, said she’s excited about he partnership.
“She’s having a blast,” she said as she watched Bella frolic with the innovators of 1313. “I think this is going to be a huge hit.”
