WHYY’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross has been a staple of public radio since 1976, amassing an archive of over 8,000 shows. From Gene Simmons to Hillary Clinton, the Philly-based host has shared airtime with quite a few characters.
That’s why, in order to better archive the cultural impact of the show, the Old City-based public broadcaster is hosting a Wikipedia edit-a-thon to include references to the show on the pages of notable interviewees.
The event is happening this Thursday, Oct. 6., from 4-5:30 p.m.
“Join us for a Wikipedia edit-a-thon to create or enhance the Wikipedia pages of culturally notable figures who have appeared on Fresh Air with Terry Gross,” the Eventbrite page reads. “We will also be adding authoritative citations and references to improve the quality of the existing Wikipedia pages.
Following the edit-a-thon, attendees can join a behind-the-scenes tour of WHYY studios, explore the show’s archives and listen to a talk with Fresh Air Executive Producer Danny Miller (who, editor’s note, is awesome). Miller will be joined by former WHYYer and current Wikimedia Foundation staffer Melody Kramer and Jordan McClain, a faculty member from Drexel’s School of Communications.
