For World Emoji Day, Emojibator launched a video campaign

The vibrator startup's founders took to the streets of Brooklyn to ask strangers really personal questions about their sex lives. “How public is this video?”

Gone are the days when Emojibator cofounder Joe Vela would use a pseudonym to promote his company’s flagship product, an eggplant-emoji-shaped vibrator.

Two years after the launch of the product, you can find Vela donning a banana costume and asking strangers on the streets of Brooklyn about masturbation, booty calls and their most awkward sexual experiences.

For World Emoji Day (it’s a thing), the Fishtown-based company released the first episode of Sex With Strangers, a web video campaign where Vela and cofounder Kris Fretz interview random people about their sexual habits.

“We wanted to show normal people talking about sex, and we wanted to do it in our own silly way,” Vela told Technical.ly in an email. “Emojibator’s mission has always been to engage audiences in conversations about sex and masturbation, so we literally went out and talked with strangers on the street.”

The first video corralled a half dozen millennials in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. We asked Vela if the next episode would be in Philly.

“That’s a great idea,” Vela said. “I think we should…”
