Fixt doubles full-time employee count

From three to six, but still. The mobile device repair startup is also set to announce a funding round of nearly $1 million.

Fixt has three new employees, and new investors.
Two of the three new employees joined the startup from outside Baltimore, said CEO Luke Cooper. Anna Kim, who will head up customer service, is a recent Stanford grad who moved from Palo Alto. Junior Engineer Isaac Madwed moved from New York. Kerry Eisenfelder, who previously worked locally at Laureate and T. Rowe Price, will help manage finance and accounting.
The startup, which was founded by Cooper and CTO Christopher Garvis in 2013 now has six full-time employees and three part-time employees, Cooper said.
The hires come as Fixt is set to announce a funding round of nearly $1 million. Investors include Google Wallet Founder Jonathan Weiner, PayPal VP of Engineering Mike Blandina and Walmart board member Jim Cash.
Fixt, which changed its name from Peach in November, aims to streamline mobile device repairs. The company’s mobile app can detect damage to a smartphone, and has options to initiate the repair process, or the shipment of a replacement phone. The app is designed to be used by large companies that issue devices to employees.
