Facebook is a go-to spot to leave birthday messages. On Thursday, the social media giant is rolling out a new feature designed to make the celebration more interactive.

The social media company is launching “birthday stories.” This allows friends to add digital birthday cards, photos or videos to a story. For sound, there’s also an option to add a music sticker. It all forms a happy birthday slideshow featuring all the messages.

It’s a new addition to Facebook Stories.

“This community has shown us just how creative and thoughtful birthday wishes can be on Stories, like a series of funny photos or a video reminiscing about past birthdays spent together. Sharing these photos, videos and memories can make a birthday so much more special,” Facebook manager Jehan Damji wrote in a post.

So why is this news on our locally focused outlet? Well, there are free cupcakes involved.

To celebrate the launch, Facebook will be at Remington’s Charm City Cakes on Friday. Starting at 11 a.m., the company will be giving away cupcakes, while supplies last. It’s one of 50 spots around the country where the company is doling out treats.
