Wilmington ranked 3rd-best small city to start a business in

A nice list hit from Entrepreneur and NerdWallet, but we're not sure if Wilmington's big banks skewed the data.

Entrepreneur Media, in collaboration with personal finance site NerdWallet, recently released a report analyzing the best small cities in the country for entrepreneurs starting a business.
Wilmington, Del., comes in hot at No. 3 — behind only Alpharetta, Ga., and Redmond, Wash.

For the rankings, the report analyzes six sets of data — population size, number of businesses, average revenue per business, businesses with paid employees, businesses per 100 people and unemployment rate.
“Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to go to a big city to succeed,” NerdWallet’s Cindy Yang is quoted as saying in the report.
A total of 463 American cities were taken into consideration. Wilmington fared well in many metrics (especially population and average revenue per business) despite the city’s high unemployment rate of 8.7 percent.
Whether or not the business data reflects small to medium-sized businesses or all businesses (including Wilmington’s big banks) was not disclosed.
That information could very well skew the results.
