Eastern Foundry, the Crystal City-based incubator for government contractors, has hired Laura Simmons as its first director of operations.
Simmons is a former Social Tables sales and marketing team leader focused on higher education; she was the company’s sixth hire.
“I was compelled to join Eastern Foundry once I saw their vision for connecting startups with the government,” she said in a press release Tuesday. “My previous experience with startups gave me exposure to how difficult navigating government purchasing can be.”
The incubator also named new creative director Danielle Theroux, a designer we remember as the winner of Vox Media’s “Pixel Punch” hackathon last year.
Founded in December and with 52 current members, Eastern Foundry also supports many veteran-based businesses and organized a competition for combating PTSD this past Saturday.
