The smooth, buzzing flight path of a drone can be, as we’ve told you before, quite a sight.
At Drexel University’s ExCITe CEnter, this is known. It’s why the transdisciplinary research worked alongside the Parsons Dance company last year to create an enthralling dance performance called The Machines, where leaping dancers coordinated their movements with zooming drones hovering above the stage.
Now, as part of a free event series called Arts Capacitor Workshops, the center will look to train artists in emerging technologies. The first such workshop will focus on drones and will take place May 12 at Drexel’s campus.
“We are pleased to announce our inaugural Arts Capacitor Workshop, designed to provide hands-on experience with emerging technologies for the arts community,” Youngmoo Kim, director of the ExCITe Center, said in an email. “This free workshop is an opportunity for Philadelphia-based artists and arts organizations to explore novel ways of incorporating drones into their work.”
