Donna Harris, cofounder and co-CEO of 15th Street-based incubator and seed fund 1776, announced Wednesday morning that she will be stepping down from her co-CEO role come the end of January. The grande dame of #dctech made this announcement in a lengthy post published to Medium.

Harris has co-led 1776 for its entire four year existence.
“What an incredible four years it has been!” she writes. “What started from that first 1776 campus in Washington, D.C., we’ve grown to unleash a global movement of thousands of incredible, passionate entrepreneurs who are tackling some of the world’s most difficult problems.”
“It has truly been my privilege to lead this organization for the past four years,” Harris adds. From here on out, her cofounder Evan Burfield will take the helm, though Harris will still be involved with 1776 as “a board member, investor, and champion for the mission of 1776.”
And what’s next for Harris? It’s a little unclear, though she does express interest in “finding” the “eye” of what she sees as an ongoing technology and globalization hurricane.
