In Delaware, over 227,000 workers are employed by a small business — that’s more than half of the state’s workforce, according to the Delaware Division of Small Business (DSB).
With May being National Small Business month, the DSB will be highlighting the free SizeUp Delaware business analytics tool. This online tool takes state and local data so that a small business can find how many competitors it has, where to find local suppliers, where to target potential customers and measure business performance.
On Monday, April 29, from 1 to 2 p.m., DSB and SizeUp will hold a free webinar on how to use the tool. If you miss it, don’t worry — there is a one-hour YouTube tutorial available.
Small Business Month resources for owners and customer
The Small Business Association defines a small business as a for-profit that is independently owned and operated. Small businesses are not dominant in their fields nationally, and meet size standards, which vary depending on industry and other factors.
A Delaware small business is a small business that is physically located in Delaware, majority physically located in Delaware if it has multiple locations or does a majority of its business in Delaware.
Small business webinars offered by the DSB in May include:
- State’s Small Business Credit Initiative Information Session, cohosted by DSB and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), April 30, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
- Social Media for Solopreneurs, presented by Caroline Hermance, communications director for the SBDC, Monday May 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
