A major cybersecurity conference scheduled to be held at the Baltimore Convention Center next week has been postponed until June.
The Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association was set to hold a three-day Defense Cyber Operations Symposium, featuring Hewlett Packard CEO Meg Whitman and the Department of Defense’s chief information officer as main speakers.
The event was rescheduled for June 16-18 “to ensure the safety of symposium participants and to alleviate additional stress on the city’s resources,” according to the organization.
“Despite the date change, our government and industry partners remain strongly supportive of this event,” AFCEA Executive Director Lt. Gen. Bob Wood (Ret.). “We are happy we successfully rescheduled it to be in Baltimore, and we are glad we can continue working with the City and the Convention Center team.”
The harbor area, including the convention center, have been the scene of heavy National Guard presence this week in the wake of Monday’s rioting following the funeral of Freddie Gray.
