Washington Esports Ventures’ Overwatch League team has made its first hires, signing Hyeong-seok “Wizardhyeong” Kim as head coach and Joon-hwa “Janus” Song as its first player.

Kim comes to the D.C. team with an extensive Overwatch League resume and Song, main tank player, has been a free agent since last season. Both come to the D.C. team from last season’s New York Excelsior team, which finished 34-6 in its inaugural season.
“Head coach and main tank are the two most important positions in Overwatch League. The entire style of the team flows from them,” Washington Esports Ventures assistant general manager Kate Mitchell said in a statement. “Both Wizardhyeong and Janus are excited to build something new and these signings are a powerful statement of our intentions to compete with the best in Overwatch League.”
Both one-season contracts with a team option to extend the agreement for another season.
