“Yes, [Philadelphia is] horrible, but in a very interesting way.”
So begins one of the quotes on Philly Is, a fun, minimal project from developer Davis Shaver. (That’s one is from filmmaker David Lynch.) Shaver recently left his tech job at national news outfit Fusion to join the Philly papers.
Check out Philly Is
Shaver tells us he bought the domain — philly.is — on a whim last summer and the project was “the best use [he] could think of.”
A word on the design: “I intentionally didn’t give the site a homepage… I was playing around with the idea, if homepages are dying, does it even need one,” he wrote to us.
And the futuristic Ben Franklin logo was designed by Brooklyn-based designer Ellie Skrzat.
Shaver is looking for submissions, so get at it.
