A company that aims to help startups find office space expanded to D.C. this week. On Tuesday, Chicago-based startup Truss launched its platform in the District, joining its hometown, Dallas and Houston. The company, which was founded last year, specializes in finding spaces under 10,000 square feet, doing it for free and allowing users to tour properties in 3D and VR.

“Across D.C., you’re seeing older properties being renovated, adding new systems and amenities that attract tenants and give them a better quality of life at work,” Tom Fuge, regional senior vice president of Truss said in a statement. “Landlords also see the importance of flexible leases, providing tenants with pre-constructed suites and shorter lease terms. We started seeing the trend in up and coming submarkets like NOMA and the Navy Yard, but now see it carrying over into other core submarkets, like downtown and East End.”
Truss, which raised a $.7.7 million Series A in August, was cofounded by Andrew Bokor, the founder of Trustwave, which sold for $770 million. On the site, Truss uses Vera, its AI chatbot, to help guide users through virtual tours of properties. Once favorite sites are selected, you can have the choice to visit them in person.
