Clear Guide Medical has a new CEO.
Bob Cathcart, a veteran of medical device companies who last worked in Silicon Valley, will lead the Johns Hopkins spinout. Cathcart last worked as an executive at Hansen Medical, a medical robotics company, and previously worked as CEO of interventional cardiology company FlowCo.
“He understands exactly the right approach in steering the company through its expanded launch in the marketplace and will guide us through this crucial growth phase,” board member Jim Condon said in a statement.
Previous CEO Dorothee Heisenberg is remaining with the company as Executive Vice President.
The Hampden-based company closed a $2.8 million Series A last year, and received FDA clearance for its device that adds imaging capability to biopsies. The device, called Scenergy, is installed onto existing medical equipment. A second device helps guide instruments during biopsies.
The company is one of several Johns Hopkins spinouts working in the area of imaging.
