New coworking space Charles Village Exchange (CVE) opened on St. Paul Street near the Johns Hopkins University in October.
Although there aren’t any renters of desks just yet, co-organizers of the space Eve Austin and Holly Burke are optimistic that come the new year, freelance designers and developers in the Charles Village neighborhood looking for office space will start signing up for desks.
There are seven desks in all, with each freelancer laying claim to their desk once they’ve signed up to rent space at the exchange, which is doled out by the month.
- Rates for one desk begins at $275 per month for one year. For six months the price per month increases to $290, and it costs $300 to rent one desk by the month. Click here for more information on rates.
- CVE is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week.
The coworking space is 900 square feet on the third floor of a building across the street from the Village Learning Place. Austin and her husband, Douglass Austin, purchased the building a couple years ago for Douglass’ company, UPD Consulting, to be based out of. UPD occupies the second floor, and a separate company, Rooftop Communications, takes up the first floor. That left the third floor, which became Charles Village Exchange as of Oct. 1 of this year.
