Washington, D.C.-based Byte Back promoted a campaign Nov. 27 to raise $10, 000 as part of #GivingTuesday and the organization exceeded its goal, raising $10,019.55 to fund free tech training in D.C. and Prince George’s County. It will also help with expansion this year into Baltimore.

“The support of our community yesterday, and all year round, keeps all of these things completely free for students,” Yvette Scorse, communications director at Byte Back told Technical.ly. “Thank you so much to the DC tech community and to all of Byte Back’s supporters for their generosity on Giving Tuesday and every day.”
Byte Back is still calculating final reports from the campaign and Scorse said the final amount could increase. Those interested in donating but missed the campaign can still help Byte Back out with a regular donation, and more information can be found here.
“As we get into December at Byte Back, CompTIA A+ students are in the final tutoring sessions of the year, determined to pass their two exams and get certified. This is the final and highest level at Byte Back,” Scorse said. “Yesterday’s donations directly support Byte Back students on the entire training pathway – from the foundations of digital skills through IT certifications. In addition to in-person instruction, they get one-on-one tutoring, success coaches, student services to help overcome barriers beyond the classroom, career services, and connections to employment.”
