What’s the story behind Baltimore’s most promising up-and-coming startups?
In the inaugural episode of “Between Two Founders,” the video series featuring conversations with local founders from the Greater Baltimore region, host Sean Sutherland speaks with Dr. Mark Olcott, cofounder of Canton-based VitusVet.
Sutherland, the director of accounts for Canton-based creative agency Kapowza, asks Olcott throughout the video about why VitusVet created an app for veterinary practices, the company’s growth this year (including a move to Baltimore from Columbia), how practicing as a veterinarian prepared Olcott to become an entrepreneur and what a partnership with Nationwide Insurance means to the company.
Here are some thoughts on Between Two Founders’ approach and the first episode from Sutherland:
The startup and entrepreneur ecosystem within the greater Baltimore region is immensely stuffed with talent and stories. I’ve had the idea for Between Two Founders for a while, as a way to be a little less serious about fundraising, elevator pitches, and stats, but rather refocus the conversation around the people behind these great businesses transforming local economies. I was honored that VitusVet was our initial interview. Mark definitely felt at home with the looser format and I appreciate the insight he provided on his why and what the company needs now that the Nationwide partnership is rolling out.
