A year and a half after its initial launch, Rittenhouse Square coworking space Benjamin’s Desk has expanded to another floor.
Visit the space at the opening party on Friday, Jan. 31st from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The 3,000 square feet expansion will act as an event space that seats 75 and a home for a new set of services for Benjamin’s Desk members, according to a release. The space’s more than 100 members now have access to, among other services:
- Legal help from Pepper Hamilton, where Benjamin’s Desk cofounder Jennifer Maher works
- Venture capital firm SeventySix Capital, headed by Wayne Kimmel
- Media help from The Philadelphia Citizen, the yet-to-launch journalism outfit from former Philadelphia Daily News editor Larry Platt and former William Penn Foundation head Jeremy Nowak. The Citizen will also host events at the space, said Benjamin’s Desk cofounder Michael Maher
The expansion also boasts a roof deck and “smart home” features, like a Nest thermostat.
Due in part to its central location, Benjamin’s Desk has become a favorite for hosting tech events, with organizations like Open Access Philly, Tech in Motion and Startup Grind (run by Michael Maher himself) hosting meetups in the space on a regular basis.
