Filmed and set in Delaware’s beach towns, Delaware Shore, a generational family drama based on the novel by Michaelangelo Rodriguez, is getting noticed ahead of its official 2018 release.

On New Year’s Eve, the Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival (HIMPFF) announced that the film’s Director, Raghav Perihad won the December award for first-time filmmaking.

HIMPFF recognizes independent films monthly, with an annual red-carpet ceremony in Hollywood in January.

The film was produced by New Castle’s Avocado Media, for which Rodriguez is CEO. Shore is the third project for the company, following the comedy The Wilmingtonians and the documentary Slavery’s Children, featuring four Delawareans telling their stories of social struggle and triumph.

Avocado Media’s films, including Shore, deal with issues such as sexual and gender identity, race and survival, featuring people and places in Delaware.
