As PC Mag and Engadget have reported, AT&T has unveiled a mobile-controlled home surveillance system seen as a play toward greater wireless control of the home, in the spirit of the ‘Internet of Things’ movement.
At AT&T we spend a lot of time talking about living mobile. Our customers increasingly show us and tell us how very important living mobile is to them. They use their smartphones and tablets to get their news, to take and share pictures, to tweet and text and to work while on the go.
It is innovation and continuing to push the limits of what is possible with technology that has allowed us to arrive at this point of living mobile. It is why AT&T is so proud to be a partner in Philly Tech Week again this year. We believe supporting organizations and events that foster growth and creativity in the technology community is not only good for the community, but good for the industry as a whole, and therefore good for our customers.
So, after spending this week celebrating innovation and technology in the city of Philadelphia, it feels very fitting to share something new that is all about innovation and continuing our goal of allowing our customers to live mobile. Today, we are announcing that AT&T Digital Life is now available in 15 markets nationwide, and Philadelphia is one of them.
What is Digital Life?
AT&T Digital Life is an all-digital fully integrated home security and automaton service. It equips customers with the ability to control their homes using a smartphone, tablet or PC from anywhere – the office, the airport or while vacationing at the Shore. AT&T Digital Life is simple and easy to use, with a game changing, user intuitive app for iOS, Android and Windows devices. This is more than just a home security and automation service; it is an innovative lifestyle solution.
Have you ever been in a situation where you’re at work, but waiting for an important package to be delivered at home? With Digital Life, you can not only see who is at your front door, but you can actually unlock it to let them in. How about being on vacation and wanting to make sure everything is okay at home? With Digital Life, you can look in on your home, turn lights on to make it appear like you’re home, adjust the temperature to account for weather changes, or check to make sure the pipes aren’t leaking.
It’s pretty amazing to me that the technology exists to allow me to unlock my front door while still at the office. And I can’t even begin to guess the next “big thing” the world of technology will bring us. What I do know is that people want and expect to be wowed by what’s next. They expect technology to change, to evolve, and to continue to make their lives simpler. To that end, at AT&T we believe it’s our responsibility to support events and organizations that promote innovation and creativity in technology; events that keep us all moving forward by innovating and collaborating. Events like Philly Tech Week.
