Under Armour says MyFitnessPal data breach hit 150 million users

Under Armour is reporting a massive data breach of its MyFitnessPal app.
The Baltimore company said Thursday that 150 million users of the fitness and nutrition app were affected when an unauthorized users acquired data.
According to UA, the breach occurred in late February. Under Armour became aware of the incident on March 25. Users were notified on Thursday.
The data included “usernames, email addresses, and hashed passwords – the majority with the hashing function called bcrypt used to secure passwords,” according to the company. The company said payment data was not affected, and it doesn’t collect social security numbers.
UA is calling on users to change passwords immediately.
The company said it is working with security firms and law enforcement on the issue.
Under Armour acquired MyFitnessPal in 2015 for $475 million as part of a string of fitness app acquisitions.
