allen & gerritsen launches mobile apps for the fitting room

The new product combines the best of online and real-life shopping, the agency said.

The team from allen & gerritsen Labs wants to be your shopping buddy.

The Center City crew built software that combines the best of online and real-life shopping, they say. Their mobile apps let shoppers get information about the clothes they’re trying on, get special deals and recommendations and let shops collect data on their in-store customers. It’s a device-heavy product that relies on smartphones, tablets for retail staff and screens in the dressing room.

a&g Labs is calling it MVSE (that’s pronounced “muse”).

MVSE is a more serious product that’s being marketed to brands — spokeswoman Kaitlin Bitting said allen & gerritsen is actively seeking retail partners — in contrast to the lighter-hearted projects the Labs team is known for (like this robot that calls out Instagram clichés or this interactive snow globe). To us, it feels like a move in the direction of, “how do we monetize all this cool stuff we’re building?”
