With drones getting more and more legit, it’s only a matter of time before users want to be able to fly farther.
ADCOR MAGnet Systems is looking to address that with a new antenna that attaches to the bottom of a drone.
The Highlandtown-based company just launched a Kickstarter for its Pharos Antenna. The campaign aims to raise $25,000 by July 24. With the money, the company is looking to enable the company’s first full-scale run of manufacturing.

The antenna itself is all about the distance a drone can cover.
“One Pharos Smart Antenna attached to your drone will enable your drone to fly 2.5 times farther,” said company VP Manny Skevofilax. “One Pharos attached to the drone and another Pharos attached to your drone’s ground control station will enable your drone to fly five times farther.”
It could suit industry users who want to fly longer missions, or consumer drone pilots, Skevofilax said.
The company is a spinout of ADCOR Industries, which makes metal components for defense. In all, ADCOR employs about 75 people, Skevofilax said.
