Your competition is taking a break, so you shouldn't. Read these tips from The Meet Group's director of talent acquisition, Mark Constan.

This is a guest post by Mark Constan, Director of Talent Acquisition at The Meet Group.

While we don’t advocate sprinting through the holidays, nose to the grindstone, there are some advantages to continuing your search for new opportunities during the end of the year.

Based on my 18 years of talent-acquisition experience these are three reasons why now is a good time to look.

1. Companies are hiring

  • Just look at Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor. People are certainly posting (though interviewing around holiday schedules is definitely a challenge).

2. People have halted their search

  • We are very busy, there is a lot going on. Many people have decided wait until the holiday madness passes. But that means less competition for you.

3. It’s a charitable time of year!

  • We are probably more willing to pay it forward now. Use your network. Connect with people. Check out what meetups and events are going on and attend.

This post probably could have been more helpful a few weeks back but I think this is good knowledge to have going forward.
