A little data can tell us a lot about the world — how people get from point A to point B, what kinds of things they like to buy and more.
But can it tell us if that wine is any good?
Joseph Nelson, instructor for General Assembly’s data science immersive course (you know, the class that did the Michelin challenge), says yes. In fact, with an award from the French Embassy, he and a team created a wine recommendation engine using data science and little to no traditional wine expertise.
Even better? Nelson’s going to talk about his wine recommendation engine during a talk for Data Education DC on Thursday. The wine pairing engine is not currently deployed, but Nelson will use his time to talk about “clustering, user segmentation and modeling to provide accurate pairings.”
