Editor’s note: Every week we ship an email newsletter featuring the region’s most exciting career opportunities. We’ve lovingly called it This Week in Jobs (aka TWIJ — “twidge” — here at Technical.ly HQ). Below is this week’s edition. Here’s the last one we published on the site; it’s meant to live in your inbox.

Baby, it’s cold outside

This winter — it has us right where it wants us. Sad, grey skies. Irreparably chapped lips. Irresponsibly long, hot showers where we accomplish nothing other than staring blankly at the tiles, afraid to leave.

And adding insult to injury, there’s hat hair. So much hat hair.

Defy the chill with us for a moment and warm up with a hot dose of this week’s best tech opportunities, won’t you? Really, get cozy. In fact, grab some fleece and a hot chocolate while you’re at it. We’ll wait.

Ready? Let’s do this.

In the news feed

Ready to think outside the cubicle? Amble, a startup that plans sabbaticals for creatives, coordinates with impact-based organizations to give freelancers the chance to work and support a mission while they explore the world. Great for those who need to get outta dodge for a bit but want to stay productive. Check out upcoming sabbaticals and learn more about Amble here.

Coliving company QUARTERS is about to become Philly’s new roomie. Owned by Berlin-based company MEDICI LIVING Group, QUARTERS has been bringing the coliving concept (like coworking but with sleepy time) to cities around the U.S. and plans to announce its move to Philly within the first six months of 2019. Stay tuned for updates and tune into future job openings here. And don’t forget to put the toilet seat down.

In D.C. news, The Center for Innovation Technology’s Virginia Founders Fund just invested in Virginia-based Micronic Technologies, a sustainable water purification technology. The fund supports women, minority and veteran founders, such as Micronic’s CEO and Cofounder Karen Sorber, who founded the company after a humanitarian trip to Peru where she saw the impact that living without clean water had on its people. Get in on the good-doing through a Micronic Technologies career or internship.

On the jobs board

Director-level pros of Philly, please form a straight line:

  • Custom software builder PromptWorks is hiring a Director of Engineering and offers ergonomic workstations. So you probably won’t need the generous 100 percent health coverage, but, you know, it’s there if you do.
  • Center City-based healthcare data company HealthVerity is looking for a Director, Software Product Management, New Platforms. Mentorship programs, team hackathons and high-fives included.
  • Digital pathology platform Proscia seeks a Director of Marketing. Word on the street (well, the Technical.ly company page) is that they use their walls as notepads and chat on couches overlooking the city. For work. Not just games of hangman.

Philly UX Designers, a new experience awaits you:

  • Cloud hosting provider Linode seeks a UI/UX Designer to join its “real” swanky office space on N3RD Street. Benefits galore, including free hosting service for your own enjoyment.
  • Microlending fintech startup Perpay is hiring an Experience Designer. Office includes an “epic coffee setup” and some delightfully offbeat team extracurriculars.
  • Motorcycle-centric eCommerce retailer RevZilla is looking for a Visual Designer to serve its passionate audience of moto-enthusiasts. Leather outfit not required.

And for our greater Mid-Atlantic techies:

Hot Tip!

“In an interview, remember to be yourself, breathe, and relax. There is a reason for an interview process: to help both you and the interviewer figure out if this is a fit. Don’t try to sell yourself as something you aren’t or get so caught up in the ‘right thing to say’ because you don’t know what responses the interviewer is looking for. By digging deep into the conversations, you’ll be able to make sure this is the right position and company for your next career move.” — Melissa Richardson, Hiring Manager for Deacom, Inc.
