Random Hacks of Kindness is back in Philly for a fifth go-round and this time, the global civic hackathon wants you to join forces with Baltimore’s hacker corps.
In honor of the National Civic Day of Hacking, both cities’ hackathon organizers are encouraging participants to either work on apps that could benefit both cities or to work on versions of established local apps for their own city. Baltimore hackers, for example, could build a local version of Philly-built Councilmatic, or Philly hackers could build a local version of Baltimore Vacants.
There’s also $1,500 in prize money on the line, thanks to the Knight Foundation, as well as $100 in Amazon Web Services credits, courtesy of Amazon, for anyone who registers for the weekend-long hackathon.
- Weekend hackathon: Sign up here. Random Hacks will be held at Drexel University‘s ExCITe Center.
- Friday reception: RSVP for the brainstorming reception, sponsored by Azavea and hosted by the City of Philadelphia and Chief Data Officer Mark Headd this Friday here.
