‘Tis the season to give and give back.
Today is #GivingTuesday, and as the holidays progress there will be still more ways in which you can support your community and the world. Haven’t found an opportunity that feels right to you? Perhaps we can help — Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK) is coming to D.C. this weekend.
As a global community of innovators, Random Hacks of Kindness hosts global hackathons twice per year, and depends on partners to host community hackathons. Both are focused on hacking for the social good. The event this coming weekend will be hosted by the Help Earth Foundation with partners and sponsors that include Altavoz, GrindHub, Union Market and Split.
Brandon T. Luong, of GrindHub and DMV Startup fame, says he’s helping Altavoz’s Nelson Jacobsen bring RHoK to D.C. “because we haven’t had one in a couple of years and want to see what needs the nonprofit and local community need done.” In his capacity as a leader of DMV Startup, Luong says he’s also looking forward to the opportunity to get “non-techies interested in technology, especially people of color.”

The hacking begins Saturday, Dec. 5, but you can join the organizers for a pre-hackathon happy hour on Friday to discuss what the weekend will hold.
