Devs are putting their skills up against the best in Delaware next month.
Coding competition Open Bracket is back for its second year year, and this time it has double the prize money.
Held on the weekend of Oct. 20 in Wilmington, Del., $100,000 in prize money is up for grabs. With that earning potential, the competition is looking to bring in top talent from across the country.
Following an online qualifying round in August, about 200 programmers will descend on The Queen Theatre to determine the champion. The competition starts out with a free-for-all on Friday night to seed the brackets for a Saturday showdown. It’s all leading up to the Sunday finals to see who gets the prize money.
While the online qualifying is already complete, there’s still a chance for coders to get involved by applying as a Walk-On Challenger.

Last year’s event had winners from Harvard and MIT. Along with navigating the code challenges, teams built tools to help small businesses, nonprofits and people looking to access healthcare.
“We are honored to host this event, and help make Wilmington, Delaware, a center for software excellence,” said Ben duPont, Board Founder of OpenBracket Delaware.
The competition was formed with support from Zip Code Wilmington and First State Innovation. The nonprofit’s mission is to bring world class software developers to Wilmington for an elite coding competition that will highlight Delaware’s growing tech business climate. The event is being produced with support from Delaware tech community leaders including Short Order Productions and our sister site Technical.ly Delaware.
