After New York City, Boston and Rome, the Open Hardware Summit is coming to Philadelphia.
Organizers of the conference said they chose Philly because of its history of manufacturing and its growing maker movement.
The all-day event will be at First Unitarian Church on Sept. 19. Women can apply for a scholarship of up to $500 here (plus a one-on-one with one of the conference speakers).

The Open Hardware Summit is the annual conference of the Open Source Hardware Association, whose goals include “ensuring that technological knowledge is accessible to everyone and encouraging the collaborative development of technology that serves education, environmental sustainability, and human welfare.”
Dustyn Roberts, co-chair of the Summit, is a Philadelphian — she’s a mechanical engineering professor at the University of Delaware.
“I’ve lived in Philadelphia for almost three years now and this is the second time I’ve co-chaired OHS,” Roberts said in a statement. “I’m so excited to share my new home with the greater OHS community, and show off some of our great local work and expertise.”
